General Questions
Q: Who is eligible for cover under the GlobalHealth Asia medical insurance plans?
A: The primary proposer must be an expatriate. However, the proposer's dependants may be either expatriates or local nationals.
Q: Are there any age limits for coverage?
A: The minimum age at entry for individual enrollment is 18 years. Children below age 18 may be covered only as dependants on their parent/guardian’s policy. The maximum age at entry is 65 years.
Q: Do the plans renew automatically?
A: GlobalHealth Asia Plans are year long renewable insurance contracts. You must expressly agree to renew on a yearly basis. Prior to your policy expiry, you will be sent a renewal notice and quotation to the latest address held on file, advising you of your renewal premium.
Q: Are pre-existing conditions covered?
A: Yes, some pre-existing conditions may be covered and may require a premium loading or a cap on benefits. We believe this is a more straightforward and honest approach than offering a pre-existing “waiting period/moratorium” for which the majority of policyholders never qualify.
Q: What coverage is available for Chronic Conditions?
A: GlobalHealth Asia offers comprehensive, full refund coverage for pre-existing conditions even on an out-patient basis.
Q: May I cancel my policy?
A: GlobalHealth Asia wants you to be completely satisfied with your coverage. We therefore offer a 30 day “Free Look” period within which (provided there have been no claims) you may cancel your policy for a full refund. After the Free Look period has passed, (provided there have been no claims) the policyholder shall be entitled to a refund of premium, less the amount due to GlobalHealth Asia, shown below:
For period not exceeding one month: 20% of annual premium
For each succeeding month: 10% of annual premium
For period exceeding 8 months: FULL annual premium
Q: Will my premiums increase with age?
A: Your premium is calculated based on the age band within which you fall at policy inception and subsequent renewals. If at renewal you fall in a higher age band, your premium will increase.
Q: Are any other premium increases applicable?
A: Yes, your premiums will increase in line with medical treatment inflation.
Q: Who do I contact in case of an emergency?
A: Travel Guard Asia Pacific and AA International are our chosen emergency/evacuation providers.
Q: How do GlobalHealth Asia Plans compare to my existing medical insurance coverage?
A: GlobalHealth Asia plans offer extremely good ‘value for money’ and are superior to most of the alternatives in the market today. We would be pleased to take a look at your existing coverage and provide you with a detailed comparison – just get in touch with us.
Q: If I move to a country in North America, can I keep my GlobalHealth Asia policy?
A: No. People who reside in North America are not eligible for GlobalHealth Asia plans.
